In 1823, William Webb Ellis — a pupil at Rugby School — reportedly picked up the ball and ran with it. Whether the story is entirely true is debated by historians. What isn't debated is that Rugby gave its name to a sport now played in 120 countries, and that the Webb Ellis Rugby Football Museum on St Matthew's Street is one of the most visited sites in the town.
The town today is experiencing its biggest period of growth since the post-war era. Houlton — the planned community being built on the eastern edge by Urban&Village — will eventually be home to 6,200 households. The first residents are already moving in and we're regularly booked for Houlton move-ins. Road layouts on the development change as new phases complete, so we always verify current access before each job.
The conservation area around Rugby School and Lawrence Sheriff Street has some of the narrowest streets in the town — we use our smaller vans here and load in stages where necessary.
Rugby is one of our longer runs at 35 miles, which we cover via the M6 Toll and M45. We combine Rugby jobs with nearby Coventry or West Midlands moves where possible to keep costs efficient for customers.
